Godsticks release new album 'This Is What A Winner Looks Like'

We are very excited to tell you about our new single ‘If I Don’t Take It All’, taken from our new album ‘This Is What A Winner Looks Like’. As you can see from the music video above, we went for a much darker tone this time out! Our amazing videographer Martin Holmes created this prison-like atmosphere that, along with some really energetic performances by the band, perfectly captures what this song is about. We’re very happy with the finished product and we hope you will check it out, share it, like it, all the usual stuff!

But you may also be wondering, “Who’s that guy on the bass?”. Well, if you follow us on social media you will most likely already be aware that our friend and long-time bassist Dan Nelson has decided to leave Godsticks. You can read the announcement for the full explanation but to cut a long story short, Dan just felt that it was time to move on, and we all wish him well for the future. We’re all still mates and of course we will miss his contribution to Godsticks as he is without doubt an indelible part of our sound. We think he’s saved his best until last too, as you’ll find out if you listen to our new album ‘This Is What A Winner Looks Like’!

Now I guess we are beginning a new chapter along with this new music, and the new bass player that’s coming along for the ride is Francis George. Last year he filled in on bass for our performance at Prog Power Europe, and somehow managed to not only learn our very complex material in no time at all, but play it with a great sound and feel. So it was a no-brainer really; we knew we had to invite him to join us!

This new line-up will be on the road in June as we embark on another mini-tour of the U.K! Catch us live in Cardiff, London, Newcastle and Edinburgh between June 22nd and 25th – make sure you get your tickets in advance now from https://www.godsticks.co.uk/gigs

Finally, we must say a big thank you to everyone who has already listened to the first single from the new album, which is called ‘Mayhem’ (video on the right hand side of this page). We have been inundated with very kind comments, and we’re so happy to see you all enjoying what is one of the heavier tracks from ‘This Is What A Winner Looks Like’. The music video, also directed by Martin Holmes, has surpassed 20k views in a little over a month and is still climbing! So if you haven’t seen it yet, make sure you check it out now!

(Dan and Gavin recently joined ProgAxia and some of the members of the other great bands playing at PFP for this cool video interview looking ahead to the festival - check it out here: https://youtu.be/ZF5lOi2HInI )

Then the next day, we'll be heading up to the Newark Showground to play at Tech Fest! Godsticks - 2020 UK Tour

Godsticks have been working very hard re-arranging their headline gigs that were supposed to happen back in April 2020, and now they are very happy to say that their U.K tour is back on!

The first show will be in London on Thursday December 3rd, followed by Manchester on Friday December 4th and Cardiff on Thursday December 10th. We understand that there is still some question over whether music venues will be able to re-open by then, but hey, they're being cautiously optimistic! All tickets purchased for the previous date are still valid, and they hope that you'll take a chance and grab a ticket! See their gigs page for full details and ticket links.
